Bingley Music Live is committed to ensuring that disabled visitors to the festival have an equal and inclusive experience. Through listening to feedback and consulting with disabled professional advisors we aim to make your experience of the festival the best possible.
The festival is held on a Greenfield site and as such there are sections with uneven ground and steep gradients. However the festival has been planned to ensure that the site is as accessible as possible.
Bingley Music Live has attained the ‘Attitude is Everything’ charter of best practice Bronze standard and is working towards achieving the silver standard. Attitude is Everything is a disabled charity that whose purpose is to improve deaf and disabled people’s access to live music.
Accessible car parking for blue badge holders is available at Myrtle Park Primary School. The parking is limited, not pre-bookable and is allocated on a first come first serve basis over the weekend. The postcode of Myrtle Park Primary School is BD16 1HB. The car park is less than 200 metres from the entrance to the festival arena and the access route is via pavement.
There will be a taxi pick up and drop off point at Myrtle Park Primary School.
There is a separate entrance available for disabled visitors to reduce the queuing time. At this entrance disabled visitors will be issued with a wristband allowing access to the disabled viewing areas and an additional lanyard that may be given to a PA. This entrance will also be open 15 minutes prior to the official festival opening time on each day to allow crowd free access to the arena.
Portable disabled person’s toilet units will be available at the following locations and will be clearly marked:
- Main/disabled person’s entrance.
- Disabled viewing platforms.
- Amongst the general toilet provision.
A changing places toilet will also be available on site. This will be located behind the Welfare Tent adjacent to the main entrance. Only Recognised Assistance Dogs will be permitted onto the festival site. You may be required to produce your laminated Recognised Assistance Dog photo ID card at the gate (www.assistancedogs.org.uk/faqs).
There will be one disabled viewing area: Main stage upper viewing area - to the side with a great view of the stage. This is accessible via a network of tarmac paths within the park.
Disabled visitors using the main stage upper viewing area to the side of the main stage arena will be able to call upon the services of an event "buddy" if required or not accompanied by a PA. "Buddies" will be on hand specifically for people who find getting to the beer tent or catering facilities difficult. "Buddies" will be available during all site opening hours.
A viewing platform and access ramp is available at the side of the front of house sound desk offering good views of this stage.
Limited seating is provided on the platform. No seating is provided for disabled visitors or PA’s. Please bring your own if required.
Bradford and Bingley Sports Club contains a number of facilities accessible to disabled people. The club house contains an accessible toilet (available 24 hours a day) and shower facilities with only a small step into them. Camping can be accessed close to the main car park for the site, and also close to the family area over fairly level terrain.
Please be aware certain performances will use strobe lighting/lasers without announcement which may affect people with photo sensitive epilepsy.
Personal Assistant/Carer Tickets
In our commitment to make Bingley Music Live accessible to everyone, we may provide those disabled ticket holders that require full time assistance with a free ticket for a partner, accompanying friend or personal assistant (PA). You will need to fill in the PA application form and provide a copy of your most recent DLA letter showing your current entitlement. The deadline for us receiving this application is Friday the 15th August 2014.
There is no separate ticket allocation for disabled visitors and tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Access to the facilities provided for disabled people (for example; viewing platform size, toilets and ‘event buddies’ etc) will only be available to those who apply for a free ticket or contact us in advance to ensure suitable facilities are provided. This is to ensure that a suitable level of provision is made.
